Caucasian Shepherd Dog

The Caucasian Shepherd Dog, also popularly known as the “Caucasian Wolfhound”, refers to large dogs whose homeland is the Caucasus. The age of the breed is about 2–2.5 thousand years. Already from the name of the breed it is clear that these dogs were used to protect flocks of sheep from wolves and other predators. The formation of the breed took place under the influence of the shepherd traditions of mountain peoples, on the basis of selection for breeding of the largest, strongest animals with a good instinct, but at the same time trained and obedient to humans. According to popular theory, the ancestor of the Caucasian Shepherd Dog is the Tibetan Great Dane. According to another version, these wolfhounds were actively bred in the ancient state of Urartu (according to other sources – Assyria), where they were used as guard and fighting dogs. Be that as it may, it is known for certain that the shepherd dogs perfectly protected the fortress from enemies, and the sheep from the wolves and were even taken by special order to serve in the army of the Russian Empire. Her calling card has become a balanced character, combining friendliness, the absence of unmotivated aggression and excellent handling. Continue reading

How not to get dirty on a walk?

In the fall, every walk with the dog becomes a challenge. Sometimes pets are so smeared in dirt that they have to sweat before washing them. How to solve the problem and maintain the perfect appearance of the pet?
Autumn is beautiful, but it also has a downside. For example, slush, precipitation, spray from passing cars and puddles. All this turns a walk with a dog into a real obstacle course. The coat and skin of the pet quickly get dirty, and light cleaning after a walk is not able to remove all impurities. As a result, the dog smudges the apartment, and sometimes due to moisture an unpleasant smell of a dog is formed.

Special clothes for dogs help to solve the problem. But in order for it to serve efficiently and not hamper the movement of the pet, it is very important to choose it correctly.

Special clothes for the dog can protect the dog not only from pollution, but also from hypothermia and injuries of the skin.
