In the vast expanses of the North thousands of years ago, several dog breeds began to emerge, which are now known to us under the general name “Laika”. Bred by indigenous northern peoples, all these animals were united by qualities useful to humans for survival in harsh conditions – good physical shape, stamina and hunting skills, but significantly differed from each other in external description. Of the same characteristics for all types of huskies it was possible to note: a strong muscular, lean physique, thick coat, sharp muzzle and ears, tail ringlet, as well as a character – aggressive towards prey and intercessive towards the owner.

“Bichon Frize” is an unusual name for the Russian ear, however, this is the correct name for this breed of dog from the Bichon group. The name “French lap-dog” is also common in Russia, however, it is precisely “Bichon Frize” that is correct. According to one of the most common theories, the ancestors of the Bichon Frize were ship dogs, which sailors took with them to the deck to fight rodents. Their small size and dense white coat had a purely utilitarian purpose, adapting the dogs to the conditions of southern navigation. However, obeying the vagaries of fashion for small dogs, Bichons became a kind of fashion accessory among the nobility at court.
