Rizenschnauzer

Giant Schnauzer is a breed of dog with a name that has German roots. Literally: Riesenschnauzer from riesen – giant, schnauze – face. You can still find such breed names as “bearish” or “Russian schnauzer”, and if “bearish” can still be justified by the size of the dog, then “Russian” has no historical background. The Giant Schnauzer is the largest breed in the top three Schnauzers, along with the middling schnauzer (middle) and the miniature schnauzer (miniature). Giant Schnauzers possess not only a very memorable appearance, but also a wonderful character. Currently, the breed is used as a guard and companion dog, a police service dog, and a bloodhound. In China, developing for a long time apart from European civilization, dogs of this breed belonged to the elite. So, the Pekingese lived with the imperial family and were revered as protectors from evil spirits. I knew that I carried dwarf dogs with me at the ceremony, according to some reports, in the sleeves of a kimono. Commoners could not be masters of the Pekingese, and their theft in order to sell or own was punishable by death. Continue reading

Chamomile

In the vast expanses of the North thousands of years ago, several dog breeds began to emerge, which are now known to us under the general name “Laika”. Bred by indigenous northern peoples, all these animals were united by qualities useful to humans for survival in harsh conditions – good physical shape, stamina and hunting skills, but significantly differed from each other in external description. Of the same characteristics for all types of huskies it was possible to note: a strong muscular, lean physique, thick coat, sharp muzzle and ears, tail ringlet, as well as a character – aggressive towards prey and intercessive towards the owner.

For many centuries, huskies lived next to a person, but only in the 20th century did the tendency to distinguish between breeds and declare their standards. The following are the names of the main breeds of huskies: Continue reading
